Diriliya is a programme developed to promote entrepreneurship amongst Hela employees. The programme was implemented with the hope of providing strengthened economic stability, especially for machine operators.

Diriliya creates a well conducive ecosystem for an employee to develop and sustain a business. Training and development, mentorship, identifying internal and external markets and a safety net in crises are some areas of support extended through this program. In 2023, Diriliya was established at Hela’s manufacturing facility in Ethiopia.

With over 950 members, Diriliya boasts a robust community of talented entrepreneurs. The highest annual income achieved by a Diriliya member is Rs. 3 million.

Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement (P.A.C.E.) is a foundational life skills development programme dedicated to empowering female garment workers. In a landscape where growth opportunities are often limited, P.A.C.E. has catalysed change, equipping women with essential life skills, and fostering personal and professional development.

As we continue our journey, we are proud to announce that P.A.C.E. is phasing out to join forces with RISE: Reimagining Industry to Support Equality, an innovative collaboration aimed at scaling impact and accelerating equality for women workers across global supply chains.

Diridaruwo is a programme developed by Hela to support the educational aspirations of the children of our employees and enable them to achieve their true potential. The programme was implemented in collaboration with Tesco and Berendina. As of today, we have granted over 800 scholarships, provided special educational support in English and IT-related areas, and offered individual career guidance opportunities to selected scholars.

Further, we have facilitated 30 employment opportunities for scholars, both internally and externally.
